The 2018 Boston Red Sox have a lot of expectations sitting upon their collective shoulders. After two disappointingly early playoff exits in 2016 and 2017, the Boston media and Red Sox Nation alike are holding this team accountable this season. With a roster that is almost unanimously considered top-5 in the MLB, the Sox have all of the talent and tools to succeed.
Chris Sale is a bonafide ace and the Cy Young favorite, Craig Kimbrel is arguably the best closer in the game, Mookie Betts is a rare, generational talent, Andrew Benintendi and Rafael Devers are superstars in the making, J.D. Martinez is the slugger the team was sorely missing last year, the bench is loaded with guys who would start on most teams, and the list of advantages goes on and on.
There’s no more excuses left to give. The world will not accept another letdown, another subpar performance, another season ended early in disappointment. It’s time for the Sox to win, right now. The stars seem to be aligned, the pieces in place. Let’s do it, Boston.
